Testimony wrapped up Monday and the jury started deliberating shortly after noon on Tuesday in the Alexander Jackson murder trial.
The jury deliberated just over four hours Tuesday and resumed at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The verdict — guilty on three counts of first-degree murder — was returned at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Jackson, 22, was accused of fatally shooting his father Jan Jackson, 61, mother Melissa Jackson, 68, and sister Sabrina Jackson, 19, on June 15, 2021.

Jackson called 911 at 8:23 a.m. that day and reported he and his father had been shot by a Black man wearing black clothing and green shoes, according to testimony last Friday.
When police arrived at the family home, 4414 Oak Leaf Ct. NE, they found each family member with gunshot injuries in different rooms in the house, according to a K-9 officer who testified last week. They found no evidence of a forced entry or home invasion.
According to testimony, Jackson told investigators his father told him he needed to get a job or move out. He was failing classes at the University of Iowa and didn’t plan to continue his studies in the fall of 2021.
