A Ladora man was jailed Friday after accusations that he grabbed a woman repeatedly at his business in Oxford while she was trying to escape the building.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office in a criminal complaint, Shannon M. Siems, 47, had made sexually harassing comments and actions to the woman and a co-worker on the morning of Dec. 13. That afternoon around 2 p.m., Siems allegedly asked the woman to stop at his business, at 130 S. Augusta Ave. in Oxford, to answer questions he had regarding his work with the City.
After a 30-minute conversation about work, when the woman turned to exit, Siems reached out and flicked her breast, the complaint stated. She then yelled at him and tried to walk out but he grabbed her from behind in a bear hug and tried to spin her "onto a nearby dirty futon." She struggled to get away and escaped but he grabbed her again and put her into a full nelson hold from behind.
Once more, she was able to get away but Siems grabbed and dragged her by her ponytail as she was getting out the front door, according to the complaint. She eventually escaped to outside the shop and Siems stood in his doorway yelling at her.
Siems was charged with third-degree kidnapping, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse - causing bodily injury, a Class D felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison. He was released from the Johnson County Jail later on Friday after posting $50,000 cash or surety bond.
