A Black Hawk County jury has convicted Dunkerton Mayor Michael Schares and his nephew, Thomas Adamson, of harassing a public official and interfering with officials acts.
KWWL-TV says the jury returned the verdict Thursday.
The men were charged after a police officer pulled over Adamson's wife for speeding.
Jurors on Wednesday heard from Officer Robert Roquet, who said the incident began as a normal traffic stop, but became heated when Thomas Adamson demanded to see the radar gun. The officer said Adamson called his uncle, who arrived a short time later and fired the officer.
The jury also saw dashboard camera video of the traffic stop.
Defense attorneys argued neither man tried to stop Roquet from writing the ticket. Prosecutors said their actions showed why they were charged.
