'Homeland security' investigation under way at Marion construction company
Jeff Raasch
Aug. 28, 2012 5:00 pm
Several law officers are on the scene at Eastern Iowa Construction and Roofing, 2957 Hwy. 13, in Marion, but details are still sketchy about what prompted their response.
Linn County and Marion officers were at the business at 9 a.m. The entrance to the business is blocked by a Linn County Sheriff's patrol car. Authorities are only confirming a “law enforcement operation,” and have referred questions to the U.S. Attorney's Office. A spokesman there would not confirm or deny details.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office confirms that the situation is a "homeland security" investigation.
Police could be seen in areas near the main office and a nearby warehouse. Some appeared to be carrying bags.
