‘Dr. Phil’ show is next for ousted Cedar Rapids substitute teacher

CEDAR RAPIDS — With her charge of sexual exploitation still pending, former Washington High substitute teacher Mary Beth Haglin has appeared on several national television programs.

Haglin, 24, is to appear on Monday's episode of Dr. Phil at 3 p.m. on CBS 2.

Since her arrest in July for allegedly sexually exploiting a 17-year-old student, Haglin also has appeared on Inside Edition and Crime Watch Daily segments.

She has repeatedly admitted to the relationship in interviews with The Gazette and other outlets.

She posted bail in July and again in September after violating a no contact order between her and the student involved.

During the TV interviews, Haglin attempts to cast herself as the victim in the situation that led to her removal from her position at Washington High in Cedar Rapids, as well as the resignations of longtime Principal Ralph Plagman and Associate Principal Mike Johnson.
