Testimony starts today in the murder trial for Dimione Walker, 29, of Coralville, who is accused of killing Michael Valentine, 25, April 10 inside the Taboo Nightclub & Lounge in downtown Cedar Rapids.

Jury selection started last Tuesday and 14 Linn County jurors were selected, including two alternates late Thursday. The trial is expected to last all week.

Walker is charged with first-degree murder, going armed with intent and felon in possession of a firearm.

Walker plans to claim self-defense or in defense of others at trial.

There also were 10 people injured during the shooting and another man, Timothy Rush, 32, of Cedar Rapids, is also charged with killing Nicole Owens, 35, and Marvin L. Cox, 31. His trial is set for March 28.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Walker faces life in prison without parole.
