CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested this week on charges that he, while drunk, backed a car into a pregnant woman who had fallen out of the vehicle, causing life-threatening injuries.
Bryan Jeffery Gall, 32, is charged with serious injury by motor vehicle, a felony, and operating while intoxicated — second offense, a misdemeanor.
According to a criminal complaint, Gall had been driving Wednesday near the intersection of 33rd Avenue and Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids, when his passenger, Kenisha Edwards, fell out of the car.

Gall backed the vehicle up and knocked Edwards to the ground, possibly running her over. When police arrived, Edwards, who is 13 weeks pregnant, was bleeding from her pelvic area, the complaint states.
Edwards was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with life-threatening injuries.
Gall, who had one previous OWI charge from 2012, failed field sobriety tests administered by police and tested positive for alcohol on a preliminary breath test, according to the complaint. He is being held in the Linn County Jail on a $7,000 bond.
