Charges filed after police chase through Marion

A 25-year-old man faces several felony charges after a police chase Monday afternoon in Marion.

James M. Fay, no known address, has been charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree theft and attempting to elude. He is accused of breaking into a family member's residence and threatening to shoot someone before the chase, according to court documents.

According to a criminal complaint, police arrived as Fay was leaving a residence at 1065 Third St. Fay allegedly would not pull over and was traveling at speeds of 25 mph over the limit during the chase. He was taken into custody around 1:25 p.m. near Thomas Park in Marion. Officers recovered a loaded handgun.

Police determined Fay had been driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala that had been reported stolen from a Cedar Rapids address within the past two weeks.

No injuries were reported in the burglary or the chase.
