Cedar Rapids police seeking witnesses after juvenile male shot in abdomen Saturday

CEDAR RAPIDS — Police are asking witnesses to help with an investigation after a juvenile male was shot Saturday.
About 3:34 p.m., Cedar Rapids police responded to reports of shots fired in the 1400 block of Third Avenue SE and found the male who had been shot in the abdomen, according to a city public safety news release.
He was taken by ambulance to a hospital for emergency surgery and is expected to recover, police said.

On Tuesday, about two blocks away from Saturday’s shooting, officers found a juvenile who was suffering from a gunshot wound in his foot.
Cedar Rapids police are asking any witnesses to come forward to help identify the individual or individuals responsible for Saturday’s incident or other unsolved cases. Information can be shared by calling Linn County Crime Stoppers at (800) 272-7463, where callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a financial reward, according to the release.
