Cedar Rapids police investigating deadly shooting

CEDAR RAPIDS - Police investigating a report of gunfire early Sunday found a gunshot victim who later died, authorities said.
At 3:54 a.m., police were called to the 100 block of Curtis Street SW, a residential area just south of Wilson Avenue SW. A 19-year-old male suffering from 'an apparent gunshot wound” died at the scene, police said.
This incident is being investigated as a homicide, and police are processing information at the scene and conducting interviews. There have been no arrests made.

Officers also were investigating a shooting early Sunday in northeast Cedar Rapids. And police were investigating another shooting they think happened Saturday in the 600 block of 16th Avenue SW after a gunshot victim showed up at a hospital seeking treatment.
There have been nine homicides in Cedar Rapids so far this year, Public Safety Communications Coordinator Greg
Buelow said. In 2019, Cedar Rapids saw six murders with seven victims.
