CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids native Andrew Stefani, 29, has been fined by the Iowa Board of Medicine and ordered to complete a professional ethics program.
According to the board, Stefani, who practices medicine in a residency training program in Des Moines, repeatedly failed to provide complete, accurate and truthful information on his application for an Iowa resident physician license.
The board charged Stefani with fraud in procuring an Iowa medical license.
He was accused of failing to disclose his illicit drug use, substance abuse treatment, mental health condition and mental health treatment.
The board concluded that Stefani engaged in fraud when he failed to disclose his illegal drug use, but he did not intend to deceive the board.
In addition to a $2,000 fine, the board placed Stefani on probation for the duration of his Iowa resident physician license.
