Police responded to a report of a home invasion about 7:22 a.m. at 2624 30th St. SW on Sunday. Officers found Michael Woodward, 38, with a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was identified as a victim and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police would not say if Woodward lived in the residence.
After interviewing witnesses at the scene, investigators determined three people entered the house after the resident opened the door, police said. The suspects went to the basement and kicked in the door of a bedroom, where they found Woodard before he was shot. The suspects fled after the shooting and left the area before police arrived.
Jones is in the Linn County Jail without bail for the murder and burglary charges and a total of $12,000 for the other charges.
The investigation continues.
