Cedar Rapids man charged with harboring a runaway child

CEDAR RAPIDS — A 19-year-old Cedar Rapids man is accused of harboring a runaway, an aggravated misdemeanor. He allegedly took a 14-year-old girl from her house in Marion and drove her to Ohio.

Emmanuel Alfani made his first appearance Wednesday in Linn County court. He allegedly took the child against the wishes of her parents on Oct. 5, 2021, according to a criminal complaint.

The complaint, filed on Dec. 3, 2021, states Alfani and the minor were found together by law enforcement in Sunbury, Ohio.

Alfani, who was 18 at the time of the alleged crime, has a pretrial hearing scheduled for April 5.
