Cedar Rapids man accused of shooting person numerous times

A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Wednesday on charges related to a shooting March 21 in the 1500 block of Oakland Rd. NE in Cedar Rapids.
David Abrams, 29, is charged with willful injury resulting in serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon and use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime. He’s being held in the Linn County Correctional Center.
According to a criminal complaint, Abrams shot a person numerous times in that person’s apartment on Oakland Road. The person sustained serious injuries on both thighs that “presented a substantial risk of death,” the complaint states.

The person returned fire, and Abrams sustained a gunshot wound that penetrated his bladder and shattered his hip, according to the complaint.
Police responded to the scene just before 11 p.m. March 21. They found two men suffering gunshot wounds and transported them to the hospital to be treated, according to a news release.
The situation that led to shots being fired is under investigation, the complaint states.
