Attempted murder charge filed

CEDAR RAPIDS — Aryan Storm Green, 19, of Cedar Rapids has been arrested on an attempted murder charge stemming from a shooting in August in the 800 block alley of Sixth Street SW, Cedar Rapids, police said.

According to a news release from the city, Green and another person agreed to meet Aug. 26, 2021, to fight in a secluded alley near the corner of Eighth Avenue and Sixth Street SW. As the two met, Green drew a handgun and shot at the intended victim.

After shooting multiple rounds, Green fled on foot, the release said. The other person was not injured.

Evidence gathered by Cedar Rapids police investigators led to the identification of Green as the shooter.

With cooperation from the U.S. Marshals’ Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force, Green was arrested Tuesday on outstanding warrants for attempted murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent and use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime.

He was taken to the Linn County Correctional Center.
