Arrest made in January fatal shooting in Cedar Rapids

A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Friday in relation to the fatal shooting of Mohamed Tawfik on Jan. 8.
Police found Tawfik dead with apparent gunshot wounds in his vehicle off the roadway in the 5600 block of Kirkwood Boulevard SW. Officers responded to a call that someone had been shot at 7:22 p.m., according to the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Paris Diamond, 21, is facing charges of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and going armed with intent, according to a news release from the police department.

He was located in Cedar Rapids and taken into custody by the United States Marshal’s Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force, the release states.
