A Coralville man has been arrested on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm after a gun he had brought to the business was used in a fatal shooting outside the H-Bar in October, according to the Iowa City Police Department.
Tramon Colandro Robinson, 24, was at H-Bar, a hookah lounge at 220 S. Van Buren St. in Iowa City, on Oct. 23 when multiple physical fights broke out, starting in the bar and then moving outside, according to a criminal complaint.
Police were called to the lounge about 2 a.m. that night after the fighting ended with Waymond Thomas, 36, of Iowa City, being shot. Thomas was transported to a hospital where he died.

Two Cedar Rapids men — Antonio Scotton and Kendel Thompson — were arrested a couple of weeks after the fight and shooting, both on charges of willful injury and participating in a riot. Scotton was identified by witnesses as punching and kicking a woman while she was on the ground, which rendered her unconscious, during a fight inside the lounge.
In March, Scotton additionally was charged with voluntary manslaughter and intimidation with a dangerous weapon. According to criminal complaints, Scotton and another person were walking away from H-Bar after the fight inside, when Thomas and Robinson confronted them about the earlier assault. Thomas punched Scotton, and a fight broke out among the four individuals.
During the fight, a gun that Robinson had in his possession fell to the ground. Scotton picked up the gun and began firing, hitting Thomas and the H-Bar building, according to complaints.
Robinson had been prohibited from possessing a gun after pleading guilty last year to two felonies — fraudulent purchase of a firearm and possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
Robinson had his first appearance in court Thursday and was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bail.
Thompson pleaded guilty in March to participating in a riot and was sentenced May 12 to two years of supervised probation, with a suspended five-year prison sentence. Scotton currently has a jury trial scheduled for Aug. 22.
Iowa City filed a nuisance abatement petition against H-Bar after the shooting, and reached a temporary agreement with the owners in December that it close at 2 a.m. The owners also cannot refuse entry to any Iowa City police officer when it is open “so that officers may perform community caretaking functions.”
