19-year-old stole multiple Apple products from Best Buy, police say

CEDAR RAPIDS — A 19-year-old was arrested after he was seen on surveillance footage stealing multiple electronic items from Best Buy in Cedar Rapids, police said.
According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, officers were called just before 7 p.m. Wednesday to Best Buy, 4650 First Ave. NE, where it was reported that a man had entered the store, taken several floor models of Apple products and left without paying.
The items included an iPhone 12, a MacBook Air and a 44 mm Apple Watch, totaling about $2,625. The suspect concealed the items on his person and walked out of the store, police said.

Still photos of the man were pulled from video surveillance and provided to patrol officers for identification purposes.
The suspect was identified as Caleb Solomon of Cedar Rapids.
Just before 11 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at 330 66th Ave. SW. Police said the person matched the description of the theft suspect.
Police said Solomon was taken into custody and transported to the Linn County Jail. He faces a charge of second-degree theft.
The stolen items were recovered from a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora, police said.
