Police asked that parents not go to the scene of the crash, in order to ensure emergency vehicles had space to maneuver. Students, besides the three taken to hospitals, were transported to Oak Ridge Middle School, 4901 Alburnett Rd., Marion, where they were picked up by parents. By 4:30 p.m., all students had been taken home.
“As always, the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority, We appreciate the quick work of the first responders and I admire the student and staff response to the incident and how well everyone followed our emergency procedure plan,” Bisgard said in the statement.
The buses involved served routes 3 and 16. The cause of the crash still is under investigation.
