Head-on crash kills one on Highway 30 in Benton County

The driver of an SUV was killed in a head-on crash with a semi-trailer truck Sunday evening in Benton County.
A crash report from the Iowa State Patrol said a Honda CR-V was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 30 at 6:20 p.m. The SUV struck a Freightliner head-on at the 14th Avenue intersection. Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch, the crash report stated.
The SUV driver was wearing a seat belt, the report said. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
