Child killed in I-380 crash identified

CENTER POINT — A 10-year-old child was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash along Interstate 380 early Saturday.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office identified the person killed in the crash as Elijah Beeman, 10, of Waterloo. Two other occupants of the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They are the driver, Roberta Hare, 30, of Waterloo, and a 5-year-old girl, a news release states.

Emergency responders were called to the crash, just south of Cedar Ridge Road near Center Point, at 3:07 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. They found a white Chevy Venture van on its top in the west ditch of the southbound lanes.

The crash remains under investigation, according to a news release.
