Coralville woman arrested in brass knuckles assault

CORALVILLE — A Coralville woman faces felony charges after being accused of assaulting a woman with brass knuckles.

Coralville police said Shelby J. Heumphreus, 23, arrived at 2262 Holiday Rd. about 6 p.m. Thursday to help a friend move.

Heumphreus got out of her car wielding brass knuckles to scare a woman arguing with Heumphreus’ friend, according to the criminal complaint.

Witnesses told police Heumphreus attacked the woman with brass knuckles, knocking her down. The woman suffered a large cut to the back of her head, police said.

Heumphreus faces charges of willful injury causing bodily injury and going armed with intent, both Class D felonies, and assault with a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
