The University of Iowa Lecture Committee, Hancher Auditorium and the Foundation for the Iowa City Community School District are collaborating to bring Bill Nye (best known as “the Science Guy”) into elementary classrooms virtually on Nov. 30.
During “Why with Bill Nye,” Nye will appear in a livestreamed event with elementary students from throughout the Iowa City Community School District and across the state. Any elementary classroom, virtual program or home-school program in Iowa can register to attend. The Lecture Committee, Hancher, and the Foundation for the Iowa City Community School District are making the livestream available throughout Iowa so that many more students can learn from one of the most beloved science educators of all time.
Iowa City Community School District students in grades 4 through 6 have been given the opportunity to submit questions in advance and 10 selected students will ask Nye their questions during the livestream.
Teachers of elementary aged students who would like to sign up for “Why with Bill Nye” can send an email to email@example.com for more information.
This event was made possible through the support of the Cassandra S. Foens M.D., F.A.R.C, and F. Wendell Miller funds.
Nye had to postpone his scheduled lecture at the University of Iowa’s Hancher Auditorium back in September, and that lecture is in the process of being rescheduled for the spring.
