Theatre Cedar Rapids installs updated hearing loop system to improve assistive listening experience
Nov. 30, 2021 6:00 am
CEDAR RAPIDS — Theatre Cedar Rapids has announced the installation of a hearing induction loop listening assistance system from Hearing Access Solutions.
The hearing loop system enables audience members who need assistive listening to receive crystal-clear audio signals directly through their T-Coil hearing aids, cochlear implants, or Hearing Loop receiver.
The induction loop system uses copper wire, installed around the perimeter of the auditorium. It is connected to an amplifier to create a magnetic signal. The T-coil, a small coil of wire inside a hearing aid or device, magnetically receives the signal in a clear, crisp manner.

Although most hearing aids and implants are equipped with T-coil technology, TCR also offers portable audio loop receivers and headsets to assist patrons who are hard of hearing or whose devices do not have the T-coil technology.
Additional advantages of the hearing loop system include limited maintenance, the ability to service an unlimited number of users, and no interference with other hearing aids that lack the T-coil.
September’s installation of the hearing loop system from Hearing Access Solutions in was made possible by a gift from Myron and Esther Wilson.
TCR strives to ensure that every performance is accessible to all community members. More information may be found at theatrecr.org/accessibility.
