Get a new perspective of the Wapsipinicon River through all seasons. Buchanan County Conservation is offering spring, summer and fall paddles that will occur down different stretches of the Wapsi in each season, while winter will feature a walk through some of the same sections of river that were paddled.
The spring kayak takes place on Saturday. Naturalists will meet everyone at McGlaughlin Access at Littleton Dam, 302 Water St., Jesup, and the float will go to Otterville Bridge State Access Area. The spring paddle down the river is designed to be shorter, the summer paddle longer and fall paddle shorter. There will be several stops along the way to learn about river mussels, river flow, and migratory birds.
The cost is $5 per person age 10 and up, which includes use of a kayak, life vest and paddle. Participants should bring sunscreen, insect repellent and any snacks or drinks. Transportation between accesses will be available. Register by going to www.buchanancountyparks.com.
