Join Linn County Historic Preservation Commission on Saturday to celebrate preservation achievements

LINN COUNTY — The Linn County Historic Preservation Commission invites you to join them Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Wickiup Hill Learning Center as they celebrate Linn County’s recent preservation achievements as part of National Preservation Month.

To begin the event, Linn County Nature Center Manager Kent Rector will present about the six sites at the Wickiup Hill Natural Area that recently were added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Linn County Historic Preservation Commission will then present on the process of placing items on the National Register and past Historic Preservation Grant recipient projects funded by Linn County. The event will conclude with a preservation walk around the Wickiup Hill Natural Area.

This is a free event and registration is not required. Attendees are encouraged to take time following the event to explore the grounds and the nature center.

The Wickiup Hill Learning Center is located at 10260 Morris Hills Road, just northwest of the Cedar Rapids metropolitan area near Toddville.
