An original 1930 Ford Model A affectionately named Anna Rea has been visiting all 94 state parks in Iowa, and over the next few weeks will visit northeast Iowa. All are invited to drive along for the tour.
On May 11, the tour goes from Lake Macbride State Park to Palisades-Kepler State Park; on May 12, it goes from Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area to Wapsipinicon State Park; and on May 13 it goes from Maquoketa Caves State Park to Bellevue State Park. More details and route information are at https://www.annareamodela.com/.
While the tour is emphasizing vintage or classic cars, participants can join in any vehicle of their choice. The purposes of the tour are to show support for state parks in Iowa, recognize the contributions that state parks provide to our quality of life, celebrate Iowa State Parks Centennial, and enjoy traveling along Iowa’s most scenic roadways at a leisurely pace. Anna Rae’s cruising speed is about 40 miles per hour, and her crew members are Kevin Szcodronski of Ankeny and Ann Raisch of Eldora.

People can participate in the tour for as many visits to state parks as they desire. There is no fee; however, please contact Szcodronski at skidia3@outlook.com, (515) 240-7668, or via the website at least a week in advance to help organizers better plan the tour.
Anna Rea did three tour loops with 33 state park stops in October 2021. The remaining four loops and 61 parks are scheduled for 2022.
