Veridian Credit Union branches offering Western Union services

Veridian Credit Union has begun to offer Western Union global money-transfer and expedited bill payment services at its 26 branches in Iowa.

Waterloo-based Veridian on Thursday said its members will have the ability to send and receive domestic or international money transfers with funds accessible for pay-out at more than 500,000 Western Unionagent locations in more than 200 countries and territories.

Plans also include offering Western Union online services to Veridian's online banking members.

Veridian, founded in 1934, is Iowa's largest credit union by assets.

In 2011, Western Union completed 226 million consumer-to-consumer transactions worldwide, moving $81 billion of principal between consumers, and completed 425 million business payments.
