Unverferth Manufacturing said Tuesday it is nearing completion of a 75,000-square-foot plant expansion at its Shell Rock facility.
The work marks the 12th plant expansion since 1988 “and brings with it the creation of up to 65 job openings for welders, painters, robotic operators, machine operators and general assemblers,” the Kalida, Ohio-based company said in a news release.
The company said the Butler County expansion will add a manufacturing production line where welders and assemblers will build branded dry fertilizer spreaders, liquid fertilizer applicators, sprayers and high-capacity grain wagons.

It also will have additional manufacturing space for grain carts and grain cart track systems.
A new paint booth also is being installed for added capacity, the release said.
Expansion work began in 2021 and is expected to be completed in February 2023.
A number of upgrades and modernizations are part of the expansion, the release said.
Wages will start at $23 an hour and second-shift employees receive a $2 per hour shift premium, according to the family-owned company.
Unverferth also has facilities in Delphos and Kalida, Ohio.
