Aegon Global Services, parent company of Transamerica, filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, listing saying it could eliminate up 55 Cedar Rapids positions by the end of this year.
In June, Transamerica, an insurance and investment company with offices at 6300 C Street SW, had filed a WARN listing that it would cut 40 jobs as of Aug. 14.
At the time, a spokesperson said two of those jobs were “located at our C Street campus in Cedar Rapids, where Transamerica employs approximately 925 employees. The remaining 38 positions are held by remote workers located within the state of Iowa.”

Transamerica also notified 15 employees in the Cedar Rapids area that their positions would be eliminated, ending as early as Sept. 26, a company spokesperson said in an email to The Gazette on Tuesday.
“These positions were from a range of functions within the organization,” the spokesperson said.
The 55 jobs in the latest WARN listing are “unrelated to the Transamerica actions described above. Going forward, Aegon will partner with a supplier to leverage standardized services for its IT help desk, which provides internal service to Aegon and Transamerica employees. This decision will result in the ability to better scale services and create efficiency, with the goal of enhancing the user experience.”
The spokesperson added that, “We recognize that this is difficult news, and we are keenly aware of the impact these actions have on our employees and their families. We have met with impacted colleagues to offer support and resources as they prepare to transition to other opportunities inside or outside of the company.
“These position eliminations do not impact the delivery of any products or services to our customers and their financial professionals.”
The company outsourced parts of its business to India-based Tata Consultancy Services in 2018.
In November 2020, it eliminated 53 positions in Cedar Rapids.
The insurer auctioned its 51-acre Cedar Rapids campus on Edgwood Road NE, near Highway 100, in June of this year for $7.02 million to HomeSmart international, which has offices in the Quad Cities.
