From the retail clothing chain that produced T-shirts proclaiming “Sex, drugs and Rockwell Collins” and the image of a cat on its hind legs holding a ray gun with the line “Pew pew pew” now comes “Quad Cities: Twice as nice as the Twin Cities” and “Davenport: More than just a great sofa.”
Des Moines-based retail chain Raygun said Friday it will open a store in Davenport, its eighth location, in November.
It has venues in Cedar Rapids’ New Bohemia District and downtown Iowa City as well as in Des Moines, Cedar Falls, Chicago, Omaha, Neb., and Kansas City, Mo.

The business, initially called Smash, was started in 2005 by Mike Draper.
Its Iowa City store opened in 2010 and the Cedar Rapids location — its second largest space, according to Raygun’s website — in 2016.
