Kum & Go location near downtown Iowa City closed

Store on 25 W. Burlington St. closed this week but other closures not currently planned

IOWA CITY — The Kum & Go on the corner of West Burlington and South Madison streets in Iowa City closed this week.

The last day of business at the location on 25 W. Burlington St. was Monday, company spokesperson Taylor Boland confirmed to The Gazette.

“Kum & Go is committed to consistency across stores, including on-site kitchens, fresh food and fuel, mostly in larger, urban markets,” Boland said in an email, adding that this store “no longer aligns with our long-term plans for expansion and continued store enhancement.”

Boland added there are no other planned store closures in the Iowa City area.

That leaves five locations open in Iowa City, with additional stores in surrounding cities including Coralville, North Liberty and University Heights, according to a store locator map.

The Des Moines-based company has about 400 stores in 11 states.
