Marc Williams, senior vice president for operations at FedEx Ground, will be the keynote speaker for the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance’s annual meeting on Jan. 27.
FedEx is building a $108.6 million warehouse and distribution center in the city’s southwest quadrant that will create 434 mostly part-time jobs. It will provide direct support for its hub in St. Paul, Minn.
Williams began as a package handler with FedEx in 1994, the Economic Alliance said in a new release. Today he oversees all operations in the western portion of the United States for the delivery company.
“With FedEx’s major expansion of operations here, Mr. Williams has unique perspective on why our region is valued as a location for national brands and what we can do even better to spur economic growth,” Doug Neumann, Economic Alliance executive director, said in the release.
The Howard Hall Excellence in Business Award also will be presented during the meeting.
The event, for members only, will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cedar Rapids Convention Complex.
