Privately owned Edgewood Logisitics Park will break ground next month at the northeast corner of Edgewood Road and 76th Avenue SW.
The privately owned Edgewood Logisitics Park will break ground next month on a 200,000-square-foot food-grade industrial facility in southwest Cedar Rapids, according to GLD Commercial.
The logistics park is located at the northeast corner of Edgewood Road SW and 76th Avenue SW, about one mile north of Eastern Iowa Airport and west of Nordstrom Direct.
“As a result of the pandemic-related increase in e-commerce and the impact to the food industry, we’re especially excited about the opportunities this much-needed project will afford companies in the distribution and logistics business,” Dave Drown, a property marketing agent at GLD Commercial, said in a Tuesday news release.

The developers expect Edgewood Logistics Park eventually to house 1.5 million square feet of industrial space.
The first building will include more than 50 truck docks and 36 feet of height for product storage, according to GLD Commercial.
Drown said "a handful of local folks" own Edgewood Logistics Park.
Ron Corbett, the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance’s business retention and expansion strategist, said in the release constructing the first building will be an “excellent recruiting tool for Cedar Rapids” or could help an existing company expand.
Cedar Rapids Mayor Brad Hart said in the release the project will be a “wonderful addition” to southwest Cedar Rapids.
“We are proud local developers continue to invest in our community,” Hart said.
