A Hamilton County jury on Monday afternoon found a Grundy Center man guilty of first-degree murder for killing Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Jim Smith during a standoff at his home in 2021.
Mercy Medical Center and UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids have postponed all elective and nonemergent surgeries through Christmas, effective immediately.
