CEDAR RAPIDS — There’s a new top-ranked boys’ basketball team in Class 2A.
That’d be Western Christian, which takes over the No. 1 spot in the class in this week’s Iowa High School Athletic Association poll.
The Wolfpack (14-1) moved from third to first, replacing Central Lyon (13-1), which dropped to second after a one-point loss last week to rival West Lyon. Aplington-Parkersburg (15-1) slipped from second to fourth after suffering its first loss of the season, to Gladbrook-Reinbeck.

Roland-Story (16-1) is third. Alburnett (15-2), which survived Central City in overtime this past Friday night, stayed at No. 9.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy (14-0) remains top-ranked in Class 4A. The class has had a pretty static top four of Kennedy, Waukee, Waukee Northwest and West Des Moines Valley, with the other spots changing week to week.
Sioux City East (16-0) and Indianola (14-2) flip-flopped at fifth and sixth this week, with Waterloo West (13-2) rejoining the top 10 at No. 7. Indianola fell to Norwalk (12-3) last week, with Norwalk making its first appearance in the 4A top 10 at ninth.
There was a bit of moving and shaking in 3A, though Bondurant-Farrar (15-0) stays a solid No. 1. Cedar Rapids Xavier (11-4) dropped from second to sixth after a loss to Mount Vernon.
Marion (14-3) climbed from fourth to third.
The big aforementioned win by Gladbrook-Reinbeck (15-1) inched it up from fourth to third, behind No. 1 Grand View Christian and No. 2 North Linn, who are both 16-0. North Linn has a big game Thursday night at sixth-ranked Dunkerton (16-0).
