Iowa high school boys’ basketball rankings: Monticello new No. 1
Undefeated Panthers grab top spot in Class 2A

CEDAR RAPIDS — The River Valley Conference is representing.
The league has three teams ranked in the latest Associated Press boys’ basketball poll, including No. 1. That’d be Monticello, which took over the top spot in the class after previous No. 1 Central Lyon lost for the first time this season last week.
The Panthers (14-0) received three of the nine first-place votes in the class to jump from fourth to first. Boyden-Hull is ranked second, fellow RVC member Mid-Prairie (14-0) third.

The Golden Hawks received two first-place votes. Camanche (12-2) of the River Valley Conference is ninth.
Mid-Prairie beat Camanche last week, 51-46. Monticello also has a close win over Camanche this season.
Williamsburg (13-2) is eighth in 2A this week. Mid-Prairie owns a 76-71 win over the Raiders this season.
Ames (9-1) remains the top-ranked team in Class 4A. The Little Cyclones beat No. 3 Waukee Northwest (11-2) last week, 54-50.
Pleasant Valley, at 12-0 the only unbeaten team in 4A, is second. Cedar Rapids Kennedy is fifth, Cedar Rapids Prairie in a sixth-place tie with Cedar Falls and Iowa City West in a 10th-place tie.
Fort Madison (12-0) is your top-ranked team in Class 3A, with Southeast Conference mate Washington (13-1) second. Fort Madison beat Washington, 56-46.
Decorah comes in fifth this week in 3A, with Marion rejoining the rankings at 10th, with Dubuque Wahlert.
Grand View Christian remains a strong No. 1 in Class 1A, with Remsen St. Mary’s second and North Linn third.
