Lisbon’s Austin Krob taken by San Diego Padres in MLB Draft
Former Kirkwood Community College pitcher joined by University of Iowa’s Duncan Davitt as those selected on draft’s final day

IOWA CITY — Lisbon’s Austin Krob was among those selected Tuesday on the final day of the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft.
A left-handed pitcher from Texas Christian, Krob was taken by the San Diego Padres in the 12th round, the 360th player drafted overall. Krob pitched for Kirkwood Community College prior to heading to TCU.
He is the third pitcher with Iowa ties drafted by the Padres. Iowa Hawkeyes Adam Mazur (second round) and Dylan Nedved (ninth round) previously were taken by San Diego.

Hawkeyes pitcher Duncan Davitt also was drafted Tuesday, by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 18th round. Iowa had four draftees: Mazur, Nedved, Davitt and first baseman Peyton Williams (seventh round by the Toronto Blue Jays).
Following the draft, Iowa announced relief pitcher Ben Beutel would sign as a non-drafted free agent with the Chicago White Sox.
