Duane Dee, 60, from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died on October 17, 2025, after battling cancer with his husband at his side. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on December 13, 2025, from 2 pm to 5 pm, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, Cedar Rapids.
Duane was born on July 20, 1965, the son of Gene and JoAnn (Lier) Dee. Duane and Jim were married on May 1, 2009, and together for 39 years. They were partners in crime. Duane retired from Collins Credit Union in 2017. He loved the sunset and beaches in Mexico.
Duane is survived by his loving husband Jim; his parents Gene and JoAnn Dee; brothers Brad (Tiffany) Dee, and Chad Dee; his half-brother Matthew (Alicia) Dee; his bestie Denise Jennings; his brother-in-law Jim Vaverka and all his friends in PV.
Jim wanted to mention a special thanks to Ann Lane, Susie Hayden, Betsy Ann, Brian Read and Amy Eernisse for being there for him.
Duane was preceded in death by his sister Tammy Dee Vaverka.
