Wine bar Della Viti is moving from downtown Cedar Rapids to the NewBo neighborhood. The shop has closed it's location at 203 First Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, and is in the process of building out space at 329 12th Ave. SE #104, in the NewBo neighborhood. The space is in one of several new construction mixed use buildings to go up in the neighborhood in recent years, behind the building that houses Caucho and Brewhemia.
Sarah and Scott Rivera opened Della Viti in May 2017. The bar features self-service wine pours as well as small plate snacks, whiskey and other drinks as well as coffee and espresso.
The Taco Depot 2
The Taco Depot still is relatively new to the Cedar Rapids restaurant scene but is ready to expand. The original Taco Depot, 2665 Edgewood Parkway, Suite 104, opened in March with a menu of burritos, tacos, quesadillas, tortas and salads, as well as a full bar.
According to a Facebook post, Taco Depot 2 is in the works, with renovation underway at a former Long John Silver's location at 3801 First Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids.
And yes, owners plan to keep the drive-through.
Hard seltzers and their popularity surge have been in the news this month after popular seltzer maker White Claw announced it is having trouble keeping up with demand and are limiting supply to continue serving all its markets.
Corridor seltzer fans need not fear a shortage, however, as an Iowa City producer is getting in on the action. Wilson's Hard Cider, part of Wilson's Orchard, announced on Facebook that it is in the process of canning its own line of hard seltzers, which will be available soon at area stores. Flavors will include peach, cherry, pineapple and blueberry and will complement the brand's existing lineup of hard ciders.
