Egads, Waldo! We made it to Number 55! From that beautiful Indian summer day of Oct. 2, 1965, George Ruedy and the former Shirley Blood tripped through the decades, greeting challenges,
welcoming joy, shouldering grief, and largely having one damn good time! We welcomed a chubby-cheeked baby in 1969 and named her Anne Marie, all 6 pounds 1 ounce of her!
Good times: A honeymoon in Bermuda, adventures with little Anne Marie; cruises for two to the
Mediterranean and the Greek Islands, great times with friends on the Queen Mary, fun on glass-bottom boats and whitewater rafts. And our beloved Anne Marie grew up and married!
More joy: A baby granddaughter, Ella, whose blush pink cheeks looked as if Renoir had brushed them. This wonder of wonders was quickly followed by Jack, a handsome addition who completed our bustin'-our-buttons family. Anne Marie and husband Bill Stephens are parents to teenagers now: Ella, 16, and Jack 14.
Then sorrow: Four cancers between the two of us and one pacemaker. But God smiled and through it all, we walked hand in hand, never swerving in our love for each other.
From the sublime to the silly: What do we say to each other on this momentous 55th? How about "Hot Damn we're still vertical!"
Cards? Peachy keen! 341 - 34th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403
