Celebrating 90 Years!
Last weekend the Prouty family gathered in Cedar Rapids to celebrate the 90th birthday of Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa, Dow E. Prouty.
Born Oct. 8, 1928, Dow served in the Korean War, worked as a civil engineer in Cedar Rapids, raised four children (Jeffrey, Angela, David, Elizabeth) with his wife Susan Anschutz Prouty, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro*, and published "Grandpa's Book of Rules: Rules and Guidelines for Raising Your Kids, Your Grandkids, and Maybe Your Neighbor's Kids."
This month, Dow's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren celebrated his many "off-resumé" accomplishments as well. They re-discovered his ability to hit unreturnable ping pong balls, re-exposed his drawing talents through a game of Pictionary, and shared in his admiration of nature from the top of Mount Trashmore.
The Prouty family celebrates 90 years of good health and great times and wishes Dow his best year yet!
*Dow was recognized in the 2002 Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest man to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, at age 70.5.
