50th Anniversary—All Golden!

Joseph and Sandra (Burke) Ellis of Cedar Rapids, IA celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 17, 2023. They were married on March 17, 1973 at the historic home now known as Villa Franca in Des Moines, IA. Joe retired from the State of Iowa as a HR Specialist primarily working on equity and diversity compliance programs. Sandy retired from the U.S. Postal Service as the Postmaster in Elkhart, IA. Both continued to work after retirement for 10 consecutive Iowa State Fairs just for the fun of it.

The couple have two children, Christopher Ellis (Lorelle Lindo) of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Katherine Makari (John) of Long Beach, CA. They also have a now-adult foster son, Vinson Hai Chi Luan of Reno, NV. They are further blessed with three grandchildren: Westley, Felix, and Evangeline (Lindo) Ellis of Cedar Rapids.
