About Iowa Ideas
Iowa Ideas is a nonpartisan, statewide learning experience designed to explore the key questions and big ideas that will shape the future of Iowa.
Created by The Gazette in 2017, Iowa Ideas is an effort to connect Iowans via events and storytelling, discover solutions to pressing issues facing the state and foster collaboration.
The project comes at a time where political polarization and mistrust is running very high, yet the need to collaborate and uniquely position our state to thrive in a global economy has never been more important.
We hope to help move the conversation forward in a few different ways:
- The Iowa Ideas magazine, published five times per year, featuring in-depth, solutions-focused stories, gorgeous photos and informative graphics to help delve deeper than the average newspaper article.
- The Iowa Ideas conference, which will return to Cedar Rapids Sept. 20-21, 2018. Our inaugural conference drew 650 people to explore key topics via panel discussions, interviews with leaders and thought-provoking experiences, and we're thrilled to be returning for a second year.
Iowa Ideas will cover several topic areas in 2018. Each represents an industry or issue that has the opportunity to shape the future of Iowa:
- Energy & Environment
- Health Care
- Next Gen Summit (young professional development)
- Human & Social Services
- Regional Development
Iowa Ideas is for anyone who wants to make a difference in the future of Iowa. We hope you’ll join us and be part of the conversation.
