Hansen, Oliver A.
Oliver A. Hansen, 89, of Durant, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center- East Campus, Davenport. Visitation will be Friday, April 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will take place at the Durant Cemetery, where Durant American Legion Post 430 will conduct military graveside honors.
Ollie served as chairman of Liberty Trust & Savings Bank, Durant, and on the board of directors at Farmers Savings Bank, West Union, from 1966 to 1993. He served the banking industry in various capacities, including Iowa Superintendent of Banking, president of the Iowa Bankers Association, president of the Iowa Independent Bankers Association and on numerous committees for these associations. He also served as state vice president and chairman of the Agricultural Committee of the American Bankers Association.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by sons, Thomas (Trudy) Hansen of Enoch, Utah, Ronald (Kristine) Hansen of Durant, Michael (Lana) Thoma of LeClaire, Jeffrey (Bonnie) Thoma of Durant and Christie (Carol) Thoma of Durant; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; his sister, Patricia Meyer of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and his sister-in-law, Mildred Hansen of Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his wives; his son, Mark; his granddaughter, Brandi Thoma; and his brother, Malvin Hansen.
Memorial donations may be made to the Durant Education Foundation, Durant Ambulance Service or the Genesis Foundation in his memory.
