CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) - Cedar Falls police say a Wartburg College student turned himself into police, claiming to be the man who broke into a McDonald's restaurant, cooked some food, and then left.
Police say 21-year-old Whitley Allen Teslow saw media coverage of the burglary, and decided to turn himself over to investigators.
Officials say workers arrived early Sunday to find the drive-up window broken. Police say it appears food had been cooked in the restaurant. There was no immediate word on what he cooked. Security footage shows a man tapping on the glass at the drive-up. He then broke the glass and climbed inside.
The restaurant closed at midnight.
Teslow faces a variety of charges, including 3rd degree burglary, 4th degree criminal mischief, and 5th degree theft. He is currently in the Black Hawk County Jail.
