Investigators returned Thursday to the Cedar Rapids neighborhood where a teenage girl was shot and killed.
Latasha N. Roundtree, 19, a standout basketball player during her time at Cedar Rapids Washington High School, was shot around 10 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of 16th Street SW. She died at an Iowa City hospital a few hours later, and police have been investigating the case as a homicide.
On Thursday, investigators searched the area of 649 16th Avenue SW with a metal detector. They declined to release any details about what prompted the search, and have been guarded about releasing any information to the public.
An anonymous citizen recently offered an additional reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the shooting death of Roundtree.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Linn County Crime Stoppers at 800-272-7463 or text CRIMES (274637), with 5227 in the message or subject area along with the tip.
