A Pennsylvania man is accused of assault on peace officers, intoxication and interference with official acts after police say he physically fought with officers after they found him stumbling down the street Monday.
According to reports from the Iowa City police department, Gary Parker Jr., 21, was stumbling down the sidewalk near Linn and Washington Streets, almost falling into traffic, when he was approached by police and clenched his fist.
Police said Parker then pulled away from officers and began to run before he was physically stopped. Once stopped, reports said Parker grabbed at the cord of an officer's radio, scratched and continued to fight with officers until he was stunned.
Complaints said Parker did not have any alcohol in his system when police conducted a preliminary breath test, but he told police he had smoked K2 earlier in the evening.
