A citizen reached out to the Linn County Crime Stoppers Tuesday to offer an additional reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the shooting death of a local 19-year-old.
The $5,000 reward from the citizen, whose name wasn't released, would be in addition to the Linn County Crime Stoppers reward, officials said Tuesday.
The reward is being offered in the investigation of the fatal shooting of former Cedar Rapids Washington High School student and basketball player Latasha Roundtree, which occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of 16th Avenue SW. Roundtree was treated at Mercy Medical Center before being taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where she died around 3 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators are currently treating Roundtree's death as a homicide, but no arrests have been made as of Tuesday.
Anyone with information about this incident can call Linn County Crime Stoppers at 800- 272-7463 or text CRIMES (274637). In the message/subject, type 5227 and the tip. Text STOP to opt out at any time. All calls are anonymous.
