Authorities are trying to identify a young man who reportedly stole liquor from a Hiawatha convenience store and assaulted the store clerk on his way out.
Police on Monday released surveillance images of the suspect, who took two bottles of vodka and another bottle of alcohol from Kwik Shop, 300 E. Blairs Ferry Rd., on Aug. 11.
Police responded to the store around 8:30 p.m. that evening, when the incident was reported. According to Hiawatha Police Chief Dennis Marks, the suspect pushed a female clerk up against an ice cooler before leaving the store with the alcohol. The clerk did not need medical treatment.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Hiawatha police at (319) 393-1212 or Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463).
